CBS announces surprise new CSI: Miami series as part of summer line-up after cancellation of Vegas spinoff show [Video]

BREAK out the sunglasses. CBS has announced a new version of CSI: Miami is coming this summer.

However, this new series will differ greatly from its predecessor.

CBS is turning the crime drama classic into a reality show titled The Real CSI: Miami.

The series will feature real-life crime cases and the cutting-edge forensic science used to solve them, according to Deadline.

With the cancellation of CSI: Vegas, the new unscripted show will be the last link to the once successful franchise.

But CBS execs don’t believe we’ve seen the last of CSI.

“I definitely think that franchise is alive and well, (and) will continue to be in discussions we have,” CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach said, according to Deadline. “I think that ultimately we’ll find different and interesting ways to bring the show back.”
