Kevin Doherty ‘cant remember anything madder than that’ as Drogheda snatch dramatic win over Dundalk [Video]

KEVIN DOHERTY called Drogheda United’s last-gasp win over Dundalk at Weavers Park one of the best and maddest Louth derbies in years.

And he was not wrong as Hayden Cann’s first League of Ireland goal proved as timely as they come for the Drogs in a game that lasted over 100 minutes and saw both sides’ starting goalkeepers shown red cards.

Home chief Doherty said: “As far as derbies go, that’s up there with anything we’ve had.

“I can’t remember any more madder than that — how late it was, the ten minutes’ injury time, being down to ten men.”

United had been a man light for 20 minutes following Jethren Barr’s sending-off when Lincoln City loanee Cann drilled in the winner after Evan Weir’s 94th-minute free-kick fell perfectly …
