A NEW crime-busting supremo for Dublin city centre will be announced later this week.
The appointee will head a taskforce charged with clearing out troublemakers and rejuvenating the area.
Their name is expected to be revealed within days by Taoiseach Simon Harris who today brought forward proposals.
The independent chairperson will lead the taskforce with the Taoiseach expected to make an announcement about who has been appointed to this role later this week.
The taskforce will also include members of An Garda Siochana, officials from the city council, the National Transport Authority, business reps and others.
The Cabinet were told today that the taskforce will address issues such as anti-social behaviour in the Capital, littering, public transport and cultural spaces and events.
