MOSCOW, Idaho – Prosecutors argued that an official alibi submitted to the court by Bryan Kohberger’s defense team fails to convincingly account for his whereabouts on the night of the quadruple murder for which he is accused.
A Friday court filing submitted by prosecutors asserted that the official April 17 alibi fails to meet minimum legally mandated specificity.
“The State respectfully submits that the defendant’s supplemental alibi response continues to lack the specificity required by Idaho Code 19-519,” prosecutors said.
Kohberger’s alibi reaffirmed his initial claim that he was out driving the night of the murders.
“Mr. Kohberger was out driving in the early morning hours…He drove throughout the area south of Pullman, Washington, west of Moscow, Idaho including Wawawai Park,” the April 17 defense filing said.
The defense team’s alibi went on to claim that cell phone data proves Kohberger was not near the murder scene during the incident. Prosecutors cast aspersions on that claim on Friday.
