The Orleans Parish coroner has identified a man who was shot and killed over the weekend in the French Quarter. The victim was identified as Juan Matthews, 26. Matthews was shot and killed in the 500 block of Bienville Street. The suspect arrested in connection with the shooting appeared in magistrate court Monday. Reginald J. Batiste was arrested Sunday night and is being charged with second-degree murder. A bond was proposed for $600,00, but the judge set his bond at one million dollars. Police say the shooting happened in the 500 block of Bienville Street just after 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Police say officers responded to the scene and found a man dead from gunshot wounds.
