SHAMROCK ROVERS striker Aaron Greene has been named SSE Airtricity Soccer Writers’ Ireland Player of the Month for April.
Greene, 34, scooped the award ahead of Galway United’s Brendan Clarke and Bohemians James Akintunde after a prolific month as he netted five goals.
The striker scored twice against Sligo Rovers and followed that up with a further two against Derry City and a goal against Drogheda United.
It took his tally for the season to seven as the Hoops have moved into second in the table, two points behind Shelbourne.
Greene said: “It was a good month, more so performance (wise) for our team. We’d a good month but I’d rather be top of the table than taking this award.
