Police clash with attendees at St George’s Day event
Some police forces in Britain are taking as long as 30 seconds to respond to calls from members of the public, new data show.
It comes as forces up and down the country attempt to fill staffing shortages and face increasingly slim investment pots.
Though the Government has announced a slew of policies to reinvigorate policing, previous cuts continue to be felt, with 6,000 officers forced away from frontline crime fighting to help elsewhere in the system.
It is unclear whether there is a direct correlation between funding cuts and response call times but parts of the country are experiencing some of the worst-ever waiting times to get through to their local police or constabulary.
Among the worst-ranking is Bedfordshire Police, whose average call response time, according to data seen and visualised by Express.co.uk, stands at 30.33 seconds.
