VERA fans fear the popular crime drama’s last episodes could see a tragic ending for the beloved DCI Vera Stanhope.

The long-running ITV show has been confirmed to end with series 14, with two 90-minute episodes in 2025 serving as Vera’s finale.

Brenda Blethyn, who has played Vera since 2011, confirmed the show would be ending.

She spoke about how “hard” she will find walking away from the role, writing on X: “Many thanks to everyone for your good wishes. so very much appreciated.

“Getting ready to start filming Series 14 of Vera next week, gonna be hard saying farewell.”
