WALMART Health and Walmart Virtual Care will be shut down, the retailer announced early Tuesday morning.
Walmart admitted that it was a “difficult decision” to end the services.
The company said after five years of offering the services, they found it was not a sustainable business model to continue.
In total, 51 health centers across five states will close, and virtual care will cease.
“We understand this change affects lives – the patients who receive care, the associates and providers who deliver care and the communities who supported us along the way,” Walmart said in a press release.
“This is a difficult decision, and like others, the challenging reimbursement environment and escalating operating costs create a lack of profitability that make the care business unsustainable for us at this time.”
